What are the costs?

At Lattitude we pride ourselves on our professionalism, international expertise, and above all the support we offer our volunteers and their parents.  As a non-profit organisation we aim to keep the costs involved as low as possible without compromising on the value, quality and safety of every volunteer’s experience.  The following details Lattitude fees for 2013 placements and estimated costs for additional expenses, with a breakdown of inclusions for each.

Lattitude Application Fee - $125

The application fee goes towards the cost of processing applications and holding interviews.  All applicants are guaranteed an interview and this fee is non-refundable.

Lattitude Placement Fee - $3400

The placement fee covers the running costs of Lattitude in Australia and overseas.  This is payable in two or three instalments:

  • Upon acceptance of your placement offer a $600 deposit is payable, which is non-refundable
  • For those departing before June 2013, the balance of your contribution fee is payable 60 days prior to departure
  • For departures after 1 June 2013, a 50% instalment of $1400 is payable in March, with the balance due 60 days prior to departure

Applicants volunteering in Australia will only pay a Lattitude Contribution Fee of $2100

Lattitude In-country Orientation - from $80 to $450

Volunteers receive an informative group orientation upon arrival in their placement country, including an overview of the local culture and customs and handy tips for their placement.

Return Airfare - from $500 to $2925

Through the dedicated Lattitude Team at STA Travel we arrange a group flight to each destination with changeable return dates.  The cost will vary according to your destination.

Travel Insurance - from $250 to $945

We have negotiated a travel insurance policy through Cover-More Travel Insurance that is specifically tailored to the needs of our volunteers.  The cost will vary according to your location and length of time away.

Visa - from $0 to $360

A visa is required for the majority of countries in which we operate.  We work closely with Embassies and High Commissions to arrange the most suitable visa for your placement.  The cost will vary according to your destination.

Other costs

Other costs associated with your time away may include obtaining a passport, parchasing any additional clothing required and arranging travel vaccinations.  It's also worth thinking about any personal travel you would like to undertake before, during or after your placement.

All volunteers are required to obtain a Federal Police check for a small fee.  Food and accommodation is supplied by our hosts in-country, and in some cases pocket money is provided as well.
